What you need
The base game, up to date. Our servers ran Bannerlord 1.4.8 in October 2026.
About 10 GB in total: 9.5 GB for LotRMPCore and about 0.4 GB for LotRMPEvent and its twelve maps.
Not needed to install, but needed to take part in a battle.
Step zero · the asset module

Models, textures and animations for every people of the event. Subscribe once and Steam keeps it current; LotRMPEvent will not load without it.
For Epic and GOGLotRMPCore is published on the Steam Workshop only, and the team has not settled yet how Epic and GOG players get it. Ask on Discord before you start.

One small program for every store: it finds your game, shows exactly what it will change, and changes nothing until you click. Until it lands, ask on Discord for the current package.
In Bannerlord’s launcher, open the Multiplayer tab and tick LotRMPCore and LotRMPEvent.
Launch Multiplayer and find the event server. Its name is posted on Discord with the teams.
The gates open Tuesdays, 20:30 Paris time. Join, wait in line, and play for your clan’s side.

Why
The game, its launcher or a leftover game process is still open.
The cure
Close them (check the Task Manager for Bannerlord or TaleWorlds.MountAndBlade.Launcher), then run the installer again.
Folder 'LotRMPEvent' not found next to this installer.
Why
The installer was started from inside the zip, or alone without the module folder.
The cure
Right-click the zip, Extract All, then run the installer from the extracted folder.
Could not find Mount & Blade II Bannerlord automatically.
Why
The game is not in a Steam library the installer can see (Epic, GOG, moved install).
The cure
Paste the full path of the game folder, the one that contains bin and Modules, and press Enter. On Steam it usually ends with steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord.
No 'Modules' folder in '…'.
Why
The pasted path is not the game folder.
The cure
Paste the folder that directly contains bin and Modules, not a sub-folder and not the Steam folder.
Copy failed / Copy check failed.
Why
Not enough disk space, an antivirus holding files, or no write access to the game folder.
The cure
Free some space, run the installer again, and if it still fails post a screenshot of the black window in the Discord support channel.

Why
Windows SmartScreen warns about scripts downloaded from the internet.
The cure
Click More info, then Run anyway.
Why
You have both the Workshop copy and the local copy. That is expected.
The cure
Leave LotRMPEvent ticked: the game takes the local copy first. To use the Workshop copy again, delete Modules\LotRMPEvent.
Why
The game compares module ids and versions with the server: your LotRMPEvent or LotRMPCore is not the version the server runs.
The cure
Install the current package (LotRMPEvent 1.0.2.3 at the time of writing), make sure Steam has finished updating LotRMPCore, restart the game and join again.
You don't have at least one map … being played on the server, or the local map is not identical
Why
The game checks that your copy of the current map has the same name and revision as the server’s. Yours is missing or older.
The cure
Install the current package: it carries the event’s twelve maps. If the game still refuses a map, ask on Discord: the team may have updated it since. Old map copies elsewhere (for example in Modules\Multiplayer\SceneObj) can get in the way: ask on Discord before deleting anything.
Why
LotRMPEvent needs the bodies and armour of LotRMPCore. Without the Core, or with an incomplete Workshop download, the game cannot build the first Orc or Elf.
The cure
Tick LotRMPCore in the launcher; in Steam, verify the Workshop download of LotRMPCore finished (it is about 9.5 GB).
Why
When the installer stops on an error, nothing else was changed.
